23/5 Meme (Updates)

Yesterday, I was over at Sandhill Trek and happened upon Stu who talked about a 23/5 meme. Of course it was a while back, and he didn't invite me or anything so it can't really be considered a meme - but, anyway, it sounded interesting to me.

"It goes thus:-

  1. Search your blog archive.
  2. Find your 23rd post (or closest to).
  3. Find the fifth sentence (or closest to).
  4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions.
  5. Tag five people to do the same. "

Stu's was: "Very funny but with some compassionate parts."

Here is my 23rd post and fifth sentence:

He expressed distaste about having labels attached to him.

If I put them together it sounds like this: Very funny but with some compassionate parts. He expressed distaste about having labels attached to him.

Hmm ... And, don't worry - I won't tag anyone ... unless you want to add yours to mine - his and mine. Just to see what comes out ... I mean ... I meme ...

Danny joins with his:

It's true that it's a pretty unusual situation over here.

Mark joins with his:

"I'm not into it myself," she told him, "and don’t ever mention it to me."

Ah, Stu has joined reminding me of his meme source, Haggiswurst with this sentence:

Watch this space.

Now it sounds like this:

Watch this space. Very funny but with some compassionate parts. He expressed distaste about having labels attached to him. It's true that it's a pretty unusual situation over here. "I'm not into it myself," she told him, "and don’t ever mention it to me."

Frank would have joined in ... but ... this ...

Mine is sort of weird: "It's true that it's a pretty unusual situation over here." So now our new blog post reads:

Very funny but with some compassionate parts. He expressed distaste about having labels attached to him. It's true that it's a pretty unusual situation over here.

I wonder if there is some computer program that can randomly extract lines from different blogs and create new posts. Maybe that will be the channeled writings of the future. Or spies can do that to send secret messages.

Danny, thanks for joining in. Am wondering: are you giving all sorts of computer wizards ideas out there? Or perhaps they have them already. We should ask Frank. He seems to know about these things.

Here's my 23/5, which came on April 10, 2003:

"I'm not into it myself," she told him, "and don’t ever mention it to me."

Mark

Hola Tamar,

Como eta usted! Hope your summer was good. Your blog looks as good as ever. The sentence add on's remind me of Mr. and Mrs. Potato head and Exquisite Corpse, an add on visual process where veryons adds to an image. Fun idea!

More later.

Wow, Mark - your sentence fits in beautifully. We have the makings of an interesting post here. I bet someone like Richard could take those few sentences and make it into an intriguing little piece. Thanks for participating!

Hello Dan,
How lovely to hear from you again. You have been missed! But it sounds like your summer has been interesting indeed. Thanks for stopping by after so long a time!

Hi there Tamar,
the chain goes in both directions. I was tagged for this meme by Haggiswurst. So please prepend his 23/5 sentence ahead of mine. His sentence was "Watch this space".

Stu savory,
giving credit where it is due :-)

Thanks for stopping by, Stu. It sure feels good to prepend the Haggiswurst sentence.
