Last night we drove downtown Philly. Had a great cup of lobster bisque. We saw Laurie Anderson in The End of the Moon. Haunting melodies emanating from her electric violin she said, "This war will never be over; it will just keep moving from place to place."
She said so many things. She said she could almost "smell light." We were mesmerized for an hour and a half with beauty, sadness, humor, tales, poetry and haunting, melodies from her electric violin (which she terms a "hopped up viola"). End of the Moon is Anderson's final report from being an artist-in-residence with NASA for two years.
Here's her favorite haiku:
Spring, fall, a coughing
fit overcomes
the puppeteer
I love Laurie Anderson. Went to see her in Tel Aviv about 15 years ago. She was brilliant!

I so hope her tour brings her to Nashville one day.

Wow. I bet she was a blast to see live. Have long admired her, mainly through her work with Peter Gabriel, a longtime musical hero of mine.

I too love Laurie Anderson, wish I could see this latest show. Maybe she'll come back to London. Do you know her song "O Superman", which was a hit ages ago? It's still one of my faves.
"Smelling light...." and that haiku - (o) (o)
