We spent a full day poring over vacation websites. Some had pictures of white sandy beaches and others cruise ships and fancy hotel rooms. All had descriptions of how lovely and wonderful and special they all are. It felt luxurious, self-indulgent, and foreign. I wondered if I would turn into a slim, young thing with a bikini, long wavy hair blowing in the sea breeze as I walked along those sandy shores. Passed by the hall mirror on my way to the bedroom and saw that I am still the same old me.
Spending the day searching for pleasure was a different experience for me. By the end of it I was tired and pleased to be going out for a movie and some fine Indian cuisine. Friends With Money. It took my mind off the impending vacation.
This morning I awake to the idea once again. I want to walk on a long, white sandy beach and swim in a warm sea. Of course I would prefer a whole house that sits on a cliff overlooking such a beach. The house must have huge, wide, floor-to-ceiling window panes bordered with plain wooden trim and a sunken living room. Ah yes, I can picture it now. I wonder if Golby has a house like that? Perhaps we should take a trip to South Africa.
Back to the drawing board. Grading can wait ... and other things too. This is fun, different, scary, deserved (?) ... searching for pleasure on this particular Sunday morning.
I can't wait to read about your choice of vacation spots. It is difficult to choose but the choosing and planning and anticipating is half the fun of the trip.
a votre sante !!!
