David,
What a beautiful piece. Thank you so much for sharing it with me here. My dear Molly, who was with me only seven years or so, is still in my heart. I remember her constantly and miss her strange, loving, joyful, grumpy presence.

We had to put our darling cat to sleep, she was 19 years old.I felt so bad the next morning that I had to write something down. just to mark her loss.I emailed it to my wife, calling it 'Some Words for Us"

Our darling little Annabelle
our hearts are broken
You had to leave us, that was the deal.
We wouldn’t let you suffer
We would suffer instead.
The hollow in our heart is you little cat
We can’t stop the tears when we remember
all the joy you gave.
No more greetings in the morning
No more can we feel your warm fur, or
have you sitting close by.
We loved you and you loved us
for all of your life, that’s our only consolation.
I don’t know why we cry so much
for such a small little cat
We just loved you so much our darling little Annabelle.
